Inghild Karlsen was one of the first Norwegian artists to be associated with installation as a medium and format. Watch the film “Outdoor / Indoor” and get to know the artist and her artistic practice better.

When the North Norwegian Art Centre had to close the gallery in March 2020 and postpone Inghild Karlsen’s exhibition due to the pandemic, they invited the artist to assemble one of her most famous works and talk about this work and other aspects of her artistic activity.

This resulted in the film “Outdoor / Indoor”, whose title is taken from the project she presented at the art biennial in Sao Paulo in 1994. Here the artist tells about traveling in the High North and the experience of what she describes as “the aesthetics of frugality”.
