Dawn Winters is an amateur photographer from Hopedale who enjoys taking pictures of people, landscapes and night scenery, specifically the northern lights.

Landscape photography allows her to capture common landmarks with various lighting and colour arrangements. It gives her pride to be able to capture the beauty of places that people will recognize, especially places where people have grown up or that are known spots for harvesting wild food.

Portraits bring Dawn joy with her work—allowing her to capture familiar, happy faces and special moments when the subject is least expecting.

Capturing the northern lights is what Dawn enjoys the most. Being able to capture an image that is never the same, beautiful every time and depends on the time of year and weather is what drives Dawn to not take the moment for granted. Sometimes capturing that perfect shot means jumping out of bed in the dead of cold winter to get that once-in-a-lifetime image, worth every minute.
